What is Happening In November

Upward Transitions

We’re coming off a very busy autumn and now the holidays are gobbling up our time (see what we did there?). Here’s what’s stuffing our schedule this month!

Our friends at the American Red Cross of Central & Western Oklahoma gave us a very generous donation in the form of blankets! This couldn’t have come at a better time for our clients.

Our Adopt-A-Family program is underway and our friends at Dunlap Codding on Film Row pitched in again this year, hosting us during the November Premiere on Film Row. Thanks to the folks at Dunlap Codding, and some very generous people attending the monthly Premiere event, some families in need will have a brighter holiday season. Read more about the Adopt-A-Family program HERE and learn how you can participate, or volunteer to be one of Santa’s Helpers and help distribute gifts!

The Central Oklahoma Labor Federation, AFL-CIO and BlueCross BlueShield of Oklahoma helped us make sure families have great holiday dinners through their generous donations of turkeys, dressing, potatoes, rolls and

all the trimmings! We’re thankful to have such wonderful partners who step up each year to help our clients!

We attended the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofit’s Visions Awards at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. The Visions Awards honor those who act as agents of change in the community, providing leadership to enrich and enliven those whom they serve.

Our Executive Board of Directors rolled out the new Upward Transitions’ Employee Handbook. A lot of time and effort was put into this and it will serve as a guiding document for us for years to come.

Our Executive Director, Dana Hope Chism, taped an interview with Oklahoma City Councilwoman Meg Salyer that will air on Oklahoma City Channel 20 in January.

And we wrapped up the United Way campaign with stops at OU Children’s Hospital and the Hertz Customer Call Center. We really enjoyed getting to go out and talk about the great things United Way does for the communities in central Oklahoma. We also met some wonderful people along the way!

Help end generational poverty.
