The cost of helping someone off the streets is so much more than money - it's rebuilding an emotional and fiscal foundation. Just imagine what a difference it would have made to someone to receive the tools to change his or her life before hitting rock bottom.

Meet Dixie.
Her life turned upside down last fall when her husband, of 30 years, died suddenly. In the painful weeks that followed, Dixie was headed for rock bottom. With no income and no advocate, she was lost in a paper shuffle that included denying income she was entitled to receive. The process was set in motion for her to lose her home, and her utilities were shut off. Dixie contacted a local news station, who in turn, got her in touch with Upward Transitions. Upward Transitions was able to step in as Dixie's advocate, paying to get her utilities turned back on and her housing and income stabilized. Upward Transitions reached out to a local community organization to have an outdoor ramp built for this otherwise homebound widow. In addition, Upward Transitions arranged for an assessment of her son, who has a learning disability, so that he may obtain training and job skills.

Dixie said it best, "Thank goodness for Upward Transitions - I don't know what I would have done without their help!"

Upward Transitions is able to make a difference in hundreds of lives because of generous supporters like you!

HOLIDAY ADOPT-A-FAMILY PROGRAM

Each year during the holiday season, Upward Transitions is contacted by families in need hoping to be adopted for the holidays. Upward Transitions' Adopt-A-Family program matches impoverished families with individual or group sponsors to provide for their tangible needs during the holidays. Without the benefit of an adoption, these families would be facing a joyless holiday.

Sponsors come in many shapes and sizes. They can be individuals, families, small businesses or large corporations. In many of the larger corporations, different departments often each adopt a family. Many sponsors find the experience so fulfilling they participate in the program year after year. Families also come in all shapes and sizes. Depending on your adoption budget, an Upward Transitions staff member will partner you with a deserving family.

You may elect to purchase gifts for:

Once we have partnered you with a family(ies), Upward Transitions staff will provide you with your family's(ies') wish list so you can start shopping!

After you have shopped and wrapped until you drop, the gifts can be delivered to the Upward Transition office for distribution to your family. If you have any special requests, please be sure to provide that information to the Upward Transitions staff.
All donations should be received by Friday December 16th at the Upward Transitions office.
